Respite provided by Perth and Kinross Council

Short breaks for carers (also known as respite) gives you time off from your caring role as well as enabling you to do something that you want to do for yourself.

Whether it's for a week, one morning a week or just occasionally. Various options are available and the person you care for will be looked after or supported by someone else.

Arranging a Break

Care can be provided to the person you care for following an appropriate community care assessment. This can be arranged by contacting the Early Intervention and  Prevention Team on 0345 30 111 20 or email AccessTeam@pkc.gov.uk

Residential Respite

The person you are caring for stays in a  care home while you are away.

For more information, please contact the Early Intervention and  Prevention Team on 0345 30 111 20 or email AccessTeam@pkc.gov.uk

Flexible Residential Respite

Flexible Residential Respite allows you and the person you care for to select a care home which is part of Perth & Kinross Councils Flexible Respite Approved Providers [666Kb] list and a number of nights of care is offered.

You can choose to use all the nights at once or spread them over a period of time. This option gives the carer and the cared for more options.

Respite Voucher Scheme - Respite at Home

The Respite Vouchers Scheme which is free offers you the chance to book a few hours of respite care in the cared-for person's own home. This enables you to have a short break away from the home and time off from your usual routine.  View our list of Flexible Respite Approved Providers [666Kb] for the voucher scheme. Carers using providers as part of the Respite Voucher Scheme should only be contacting providers on this list that are part of the scheme.

For more information, please contact the Early Intervention and  Prevention Team on 0345 30 111 20 or email AccessTeam@pkc.gov.uk

Short Breaks Bureau

The Short Breaks Bureau is specifically designed for people with learning disabilities, and allows carers a break, safe in the knowledge that the person they care for is enjoying quality time.

For more information, please contact Vicki Cheape - 01738 476 557 or email pkcrespite@pkc.gov.uk
