The Bridge Project

What happens when caring changes?

The Bridge Project will be for unpaid carers whose caring role has changed due to bereavement or the cared for person entering long-term care. PKAVS Carers Hub recognised the importance of supporting unpaid carers all through their caring journey. Through the 'Bridge Project', it aims to provide support to unpaid carers at this difficult time.

If the person you have been caring for moves into permanent care, it doesn't mean that your caring role has ended because caring is still a part of your life. Your day to day routine may have changed but there can be a sense of loss as the person is no longer at home.

Similarly, losing someone you have been caring for can be devastating. It is important to realise that you are not alone. The 'Bridge Project' is here to offer you support at this transition in your life.

You may be going through a grieving process. This is where the group support is offered which can be very beneficial and supportive. Through the Bridge Project, you will meet with other unpaid carers who understand and have been in a similar situation. It may take some time to adjust that you may feel isolated, lost and lonely after many years of caring. Each situation is different but having to share a common bond makes it unique.
