Talking about tomorrow Preparing parents and carers for transition

"It's our transition too." (Parent)

This transitions conference is different.

Tailored to parents and carers of young people with disabilities and learning difficulties, it brings together a wealth of information, experience and support to help you explore what's best for your family. This is your chance to hear from a range of speakers working to improve transition experiences across Scotland today, to build your skills and confidence through practical workshops, and to get answers to the questions that matter to you.

Contact, Lead Scotland, Gillespie Macandrew and ARC Scotland are working in partnership to create an event that will be relevant to every parent of a young disabled adult - from preparation and planning for the future, through options and funding, to safeguarding your own health and that of the young person you care for.

Transition is far more than a single event, such as leaving school. It's a journey, over years, during which your young person will be finding their place in the adult world. This conference is rooted in the belief that knowledge and confidence are what make the difference in arriving at the right outcome for your family.

  • This event is FREE to parents and carers of young people with disabilities and learning difficulties.
  • A limited number of places are available to professionals at a cost of £75 per delegate. If your organisation has fewer than 5 employees working directly with disabled young people and their families, please contact tracey.francis@contact.org.uk for details of our special rates.

IF YOU'RE A PARENT OR CARER, WE CAN HELP WITH NECESSARY COSTS TO ENABLE YOU TO ATTEND. FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THIS, TICK THE BOX WHEN BOOKING.
