Planning for Transition

A workshop for parents from Contact, the charity for families with disabled children, working with Lead Scotland.

Uncertainty around what happens when a young person leaves school is stressful, but there is help out there - and good planning can make a big difference to finding a solution that works for your family. This workshop offers an introduction to the transition process and what you should expect.

Who should attend

Parents/carers of young people aged approximately 12-18 with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

About the workshop

  • Find out what the law says about transitions
  • Learn who should be involved in transitions planning, how and when
  • Understand more about your role in the process, and that of your young person
  • Consider some of the possible options
  • Look at examples of transition plans and take home a template to help your own planning
  • Discover more sources of information and support

You will be able to talk to other families facing the same issues and help us identify what parents and carers need to feel more confident in preparing for the future.

Date:    Tuesday 6th March 2018

Time:    10am - 1pm (includes refreshments)
