During the April holidays, 9 young carers headed to Loch Eli to Outward Bound for a week of adventure.
They took part in an overnight expedition which involved canoeing for 4 hours then setting up a camp, cooking rations and sleeping out in tents. They also took part in abseiling, rock climbing and rock scrambling on Ben Nevis.
This residential gave young carers an opportunity to not only have a break from their caring orle, but to try new experiences and activities that they would not normally be able to do. They also got to make new friends and build self-esteem away from their caring role.
Two of our young carers were lucky enough to be offered scholarships from the Outward Bound Trust to return for an extended residential next summer. Everyone had a great time and have asked to go to Loch Eli again next year...watch this space!!
The purpose of Young Carers Awareness Day is to raise public awareness of the challenges faced by young people because of their caring role.
The end of last year was a very busy time for our Young Carers as always! Read on to find out what they got up to!
We are delighted to announce that Young Carers have been awarded a grant from The Crerar Trust. This funding will prove invaluable in helping us to plan a fun, action packed respite programme for all.
